1. How did you hear about the bus? What made you want to get on board?
I heard about Ampion on Twitter. It was getting a lot of press after the event last year and so I kept in touch and went for it this year.
2. What are you hoping to get out of this trip? What are your expectations?
It looks like a great learning experience. I work in the agile methodology now and am looking forward to really pushing the idea of collaboration to another level.
3. What are three things that motivate you?
I find it inspiring to work with people of different skills. I respect the way business people and coders think. I have always worked for causes I believe in, be it, consumer advocacy, science education, or youth development and I love to travel. Check, check, and check.
4. What’s the most exciting/proudest/interesting thing you’ve done to date?
I spent 6 months volunteering with a non-profit organization in Cape Town. They worked with youth in the communities of Cape Town and brought them together through the afro-brazilian martial art of capoeira, (something I also practice). I helped them out with their website, their online presence, and development. When I wasn’t in the office, I was helping teach classes. What began as a 2 month commitment, quickly expanded to 6. The kids were great, it was loads of fun, and I still keep in touch with them three years later.
5. What next? (Do you have any future ventures/ideas/projects you’re working on?)
I’m currently working with a couple startups with help on their UI. I’m looking to simply offer my help to the great visions that are likely to come from Ampion.
